A Game of Sequence and Abrupt Endings

Did you know our Numerology deck, Cerulean Sequence, can be used to play a fun, easy-to-learn, game? Blank Slate can be played with 2-6 players and is quick to pick up. All you need is a full deck of Cerulean Sequence cards and a pair of dice.

How to Play Blank Slate

Deal 7 cards to each player.

The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile in the center of the group. Flip the top card of the pile and place it next to the pile. (If zero, flip another card).

Roll a pair of dice to determine who starts. The first player will check their hand for any cards that are either 1 greater or 1 less than the shown card. If no cards can be played, the player draws a card from the pile, plays it if they can, and if they can not, the next player clockwise to them takes their turn. (If the shown card is a 9, an 8 or a 1 can be played, if the card shown is 1, a 9 or a 2 can be played).

A player can place as many cards down as they are able to during their turn, one card at a time in sequential order. Once no more moves can be made, the turn is over and the person clockwise goes next.

Playing a Zero

Playing a zero ends the round. When the round ends, players tally their points by adding up the numbers on each card in their hand. The goal is to have the least points at the end of each round.

A player can play a zero at any time to end the round.

After the round ends, shuffle all the cards and deal 7 new cards to each player. The player with the most points begins the next round. When a player reaches 50 points, they are out. The player with the least points wins.
