XVII. The Star
After the cataclysmic fall of the Tower, a woman is cast into the air. At the apex of her ascent, she sees the whole world around her, stars singing their high, clear aria. The sleigh bell descant fills her with hope, and in the midst of stark calamity, she is at peace. Lily tendrils entwine around her, linking her to a brilliant light.

upright meaning:
opportunity • hope • inspiration
The Star is a beacon of hope. Though the night is dark and arduous, across the sky are scattered reminders that suns blaze perpetually, even if our own is hidden from sight. Believe the sun will rise, not as an empty sentiment but an immutable law of nature. For now, let the subtle radiance light your way, splayed galaxies working in concert to guide you home.

reversed meaning:
blind faith • need for a clear mind • disappointment
The Star is a card of hope, but inverted it tells a most insidious story of blind faith. Not everything- or everyone- deserves your trust. Some things should not be hoped for, either because they’re unrealistic, evil, or would simply not pan out in the way you expect them to. Disentangle from fruitless fantasy, untether from the narratives you’ve built up around you over time. Things may not work out perfectly- indeed, they rarely do- but stay grounded so you’re ready for the inevitable snarls and thorns.
