Weekly Card Pull - Eight of Swords

We are perpetually in awe of the passage of time-- it feels like just yesterday we were reflecting on the events of 2025 and now we're facing the final months of 2026. Looking ahead, we are hoping for a few more carefree weekends before the fall arrives with its own shift of atmosphere that can often leave us feeling rushed as the end of the year approaches and the days get shorter. Whatever state you might be in at this particular moment in time, we hope the card we pull offers a grounding message that centers you as the week begins.

This week, we are revisiting our classic, Light Visions Tarot, the deck that started it all. The plum tone and gold accents perfectly allude to the intoxicating power of the sun, beginning its surrender while Virgo season prepares to wash over us with the moody hues of a summer ending. We contemplate the week ahead and draw the card, Eight of Swords.

Eight of Swords - self-imprisonment • despair • victim mentality

This card signifies a self-imposed prison. The clouded perception of a person focused too much on their own pain. Sometimes we sense defeat and surrender when we still have a fighting chance. Giving up because we feel the odds are stacked against us when there was always a path forward.

Let's take this card as a call for caution. The week ahead may bring on barriers that will test our hope. Let's remember to tread carefully; focus on our strengths, our agency, and our self-care. When the burden feels too heavy to bear, rest, ask for help, and pivot to something easier to handle. If you're struggling to get out of stagnant waters, seek out something that can keep you afloat until the tide changes.
