The Compass of Many Paths is an experimental divination tool designed by James R. Eads to complement The Oracle of Many Paths. It can be used a few ways.
Firstly, this compass can be used as a traditional navigational tool to help you get oriented in the physical world.
You will notice a knob on the side of the compass. Open the compass so that the message inscribed is upright and ensure that the knob is pulled all the way down. This will make it so that the compass needle wobbles back and forth as the compass is moved. The needle needs to move freely so that it can naturally gravitate North via its magnetic pull.
Place the compass on a stable surface and wait for it to stop moving. Once it has settled, it should point North. As long as you continue to keep the compass in the same position, the needle should always settle over the same symbol. If you rotate the compass to be in a different position, the needle should still point in the same direction (North) but may land over a different symbol. Pushing the button up will lock the needle in place so that it no longer wobbles when moved. You can test that your compass is correctly pointing North by downloading a free compass app, placing the compass next to your phone and comparing the direction of the needles. They should be pointing in the same direction (North).
