7.23.21 Sleeping Ships Wood Panel and Rainbow Foil Editions

7.23.21 Sleeping Ships Wood Panel and Rainbow Foil Editions

After deciding to hold off on completing this edition last year, we are so excited to finally announce its release~ This print means a lot to the team because of what it represents...a time of uncertainty, a period of uneasy reflection but much needed rest even when what we wanted most was to be moving forward. That time was integral to our growth. It allowed for us to plant seeds for the future

while some parts of yourself may feel like they are withering,
new inspiration will grow in the shadows.
this inspiration will plant seeds for future thoughts and future epiphanies.
and when it is your time, you will grow.
you will find new paths and inspire others in the way you have inspired yourself. that is the beauty of being human - we are always growing, even when we’re resting.

About the Print:
Sleeping Ships became the mystery card of the first edition of the Cosma Visions Oracle released earlier this year. The card represents rest, inspiration and growth. I created this image in the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Initially it was titled "six feet apart" but as the image grew so did the idea. It became more about the growth we experience in the quiet moments in life.
For this print, the vision was to print on two different unconventional materials, rainbow foil and wood panels. These versions offer a duality, a contrast between the holographic, highly reflective energy of the cosmos and the grounding, gentle strength of the earth. The wood panels are the same panels that I create original paintings on, making the edition look strikingly similar to an original painting.

Poem (Included on the certificate):
while some parts of yourself may feel like they are withering, new inspiration will grow in the shadows. this inspiration will plant seeds for future thoughts and future epiphanies. and when it is your time, you will grow. you will find new paths and inspire others in the way you have inspired yourself. that is the beauty of being human - we are always growing, even when we’re resting.

Process:
The original piece was created digitally on a wacom tablet, once it was completed the layers were separated by color and then all 14 layers were "trapped" - a process of adding a bleed around each color to aid in the screen-printing process. The trapping on this print took about 2 weeks as it is highly detailed with over a dozen colors. Each layer is then printed on transparency and shot onto mesh screens. We mix all colors by eye and hand pull all of our prints which gives us the ability to fine tune the printing process and registration. When the printing was complete, each rainbow foil print was cut down by white-gloved hands, and both editions were then signed and numbered after careful inspection.
